Why Marietta families choose Rhetrix

Students from Marietta City Schools and Cobb County schools both attend Rhetrix. We don't require a specific school affiliation. The program groups students by track — aligned to grade level — so your student works alongside peers from across the region who are in the same communication moment.

Marietta students often come to Rhetrix with a mix of backgrounds: some have done drama, some have done debate, some have done neither. Rhetrix isn't debate and it isn't theater. It's communication coaching built around the real situations your student will face: job interviews, college interviews, group projects, and conversations where something is actually at stake.

From Marietta to Woodstock is about 25 minutes. For families who want a specialized program and can't find it locally, the drive tends to feel shorter as the semester goes on — particularly when they start noticing changes in how their student carries themselves in rooms.

Common questions from Marietta families

What Marietta parents ask us most.

Do you have students from Marietta City Schools?

Yes. Rhetrix enrolls students from both Marietta City Schools and Cobb County schools. There's no school affiliation requirement. If your student is in grades 6 through 12, they're eligible.

How is Rhetrix different from drama or theater programs?

Theater trains students to perform scripted material and embody characters. Rhetrix trains students to communicate as themselves — in real conversations, under real pressure, with real stakes. Improvised responses, group presentations, one-on-one persuasive conversations. The skills are complementary but different, and theater students often get a lot out of Rhetrix specifically because they already have stage presence and are ready to refine the communication layer underneath it.

How far is the drive from Marietta to Rhetrix?

From most Marietta addresses, Woodstock Community Church is about 25 minutes. The drive is mostly on I-575 and surface roads with relatively predictable traffic for morning sessions.

What grade levels does Rhetrix serve?

Grades 6 through 12. There are four tracks: New World (6th grade), Rise Ready (7th and 8th grade), Break Through (9th and 10th grade), and Leading Edge (11th and 12th grade). Each track is designed around the communication challenges and developmental moment specific to that age group.
